[ The days following the triumphant return of the draftees saw Chouji considerably more subdued and antisocial than he'd usually be. This is said taking into account the fact that he's generally not usually the withdrawn type at all. Journal posts got looked at and generally went without replies, for the most part, and he made an unintentional habit of not going through the more populated areas of town.
He hasn't felt like he'd make for decent company or conversation lately, and Chouji is also not the type to push potential bad company on people. Comes from the matter of a simple guy having a simple problem: he hates hurting people, he's in a profession that requires it, and he spent a few days out at war doing just that and worse. For having all the optimism and friendliness in the world, it's easier to give yourself space until there's nothing to potentially worry people with.
...but today he wakes up and it feels like a new day. Like a distinct little voice in the back of his mind has kicked in and refused to leave: a person can't spend forever hiding just because they had to do things they're not proud of. He's still alive and the sun is still shining, and he's never let anything keep him from trusting to the best of things. He knows any number of people still at home who would be disappointed if he did.
So everything is going to be fine. ]
I guess it really is New Feather season already, huh? My name is Akimichi Chouji; I know Luceti can be different, but the people here are really nice, too.
So just ask if you need anything and a lot of us will be glad to help you settle in. [ pauuuuuse, considering asking how a ton of people are...and deciding not to bother them, huh. ]
[ Also. Guess what you're getting a little while after you retreat from breakfast this morning, Shikamaru? A knock on the door, because your BFF is going to be assertive today. ]
((not to say that Chouji can't be caught walking around town, of course. ))

Door's not locked.

We're going out today. [ Not "do you think we should get out of the apartment, Shikamaru?". Not a question at all.
Just a little something reminiscent of Ino for you. ]
[Action]
Where to?
[Action]
I don't know yet.
[Action]
[Just a few, but it shouldn't be especially difficult. He knows he's been all but sulking around the apartment these past few days, and that's an attitude he's becoming less and less tolerant of - especially in himself. But old habits die hard.]
[Action]
It's a good day for walking. [ This is the village that we helped save. Let us not forget that detail. ]

She hasn't checked in on Chouji, Shikamaru, or Temari since as far as she knew, they were all fine. And she hadn't even realized how much she'd missed seeing Chouji until she sees him - and instantly smiles and waves, rushing over to where he is.]
Hey, Chouji!

with the pineapple-head. Have an instant smile for your instant smile. ]Hey!

How are you? I haven't seen you the past few days.
[ action ]
Not that you had to stop by or anything - I just meant it'd been a while!
[Eeesh. How does one do 'Normal?']
[ action ]
Yeah, it really has. Sorry about that. [ Genuine apology around the grin, as ever.
... Finding a nice way to add "I was hiding" is difficult. >_> ]
[ action ]
That's okay. How have you been?
[No lying, remember?
...it may be worth noting as well, that if one is a close observer than there are certain tell-tale signs that Katara has not been sleeping well. There are light shadows under her eyes, and her movements are the slightest bit more deliberate.]
[ action ]
... Things have been okay. Quiet, but I've been working on it. [ And a bit of a helpless shrug, because what else is there for it? I'm not the only one who doesn't like fighting. ] How are you?

[And maybe Masaomi's getting a little stir-crazy with the results of his broken ankle from the last day of the fight]
[voice]
How have you been doing, Masaomi-san?

I'm sure they'd appreciate a friendly face.

That's a pretty admirable ambition. Most people aren't usually so generous about that kind of thing with strangers. [ Props, bro. ]
