[ The Plan was to ninja his way from the snowbank a ways north of CH 1 he woke up in to the apartment, where he keeps first aid, cleaner clothes, and food. The Plan was to manage to get cleaned up and focused before hailing anybody about getting back: it's just like getting back in from a bad mission, no big deal. He was going to manage it. Somehow. Eeeeven though the person he'd get in touch with first happens to share the same apartment he'd be ninja-ing to.

...yeah, The Plan lacks a lot of finesse, which makes sense because he's never been much of a strategist even on a good day. Chouji opts not to embarrass himself with it and changes it to getting set up at a nice nearby tree until he's ready to make the trek back to his building. He'll be sporting dark circles under his eyes and a typically uncharacteristic air of wariness today- his rarely spotted Competent Inner Ninja is insisting that he shouldn't get too comfortable, and who is he to disappoint it?

At least he doesn't have trouble bypassing the majority of the journal-chatter. ]

Aa...it's pretty quiet out here, isn't it. [ A pause that is almost hesitation, and the second statement has more of a specific direction to it: ] I'll be getting back soon.

((ooc: meanwhile, the mun will sleep, having tossed this up before she could forget to do so.))

[Temari's days are up and down lately, what with two lifetimes of memories trying to find enough space in one brain. Today? Well. She's trying. And trying means reaching out to someone who may or may not be familiar.

Of course, she's locking the damned thing and speaking in a tone that just oozes suspicion (which if her way of being uncertain).

There are pieces. They are: Shikamaru talking about Chouji, a vaguely remembered conversation with said Chouji upon her (first) arrival in Luceti, and... well, that's about it. She refuses to be out of the loop -- if there is a loop. Who knows. ~~And this is possibly enough tl;dr for a voice post, I'm sure.~~]

[~~Oh, good. I specialize in it.~~ That warmth throws her off a bit. She doesn't actually really remember you, Chouji. Not today. Well. Sort of. You get some dim, hazy memories and mostly Shikamaru acting like a lost puppy whenever you're mentioned.

Oh, I'm fine; I've always been pretty durable. [ True story.

Chouji, sharp man that he is, will probably only catch on to the memory-lack... if Shikamaru tells him that it's there. 8Dd He's just that on top of things today. ] How about you?

Good to hear. [She thinks. Maybe that at least means Shikamaru will quit moping, the crybaby.]

Fine. [The answer is short, to the point, and mostly a lie. More importantly:] Do you need assistance?

[Because she'd totally send Shikamaru. She... would stay behind and do an extra trap-checking expedition throughout the building. Just in case. Maybe the Malnosso sent you back with Ninja Monitoring Equipment or something.]

It's fine; I'm already meeting up with a couple of people. [ Ninjas are practically their own Ninja Monitoring Equipment, y/y. ]

[Okay, a couple people might be good. Might also be very bad. In fact, the same applies to her, should she go out after him. Well. He said he's fine. She's not going out of her way to be sure.

Except he's a friend of a friend. Why must things be so complicated? Fine. Fine. She'll offer a compromise just so her stupid brain will shut the hell up.]

Oi. [He cuts off the question before he can ask it - are you all right - because knowing Chouji, he wouldn't want people to worry over him.

Never mind that's exactly what Shikamaru's been doing.]

Heh. [He gets that nervousness out of his system. If it sounds like relief, that's because it is.] They didn't stick you out in the middle of nowhere, did they?

[ It's always, always good when best friends are present and accounted for. Chouji accepts this as one of life's constants. ]

Nah- I'm not too far from the building. Guess I'm pretty lucky.

It's definitely convenient. [And it seems like you have luck in spades sometimes.]

Do you need anything? I can meet you on your way back.

[ Twice the luck you have- it's canon statistics. Hell, he's even got a water-bender to help heal up the stuff that might make you get all emo. ]

Food would be good. [ Which might be a predictable answer, all things considered. For food is life, and the Malnosso apparently do not know this well enough to pen up a ninja of his unique style. ~~or you know, they're wary of proper levels of Akimichi chakra-production in the laboratory for some reason :|a~~ ]

[PLEASE. Shikamaru doesn't get emo. That's reserved for the Uchiha clan and other main characters. Everyone else just kinda broods very seriously.]

You got it. [He somehow doubts the Malnosso are well-stocked on barbecue chips, or any of those high calorie snacks an Akimichi can make work to their advantage. He grabs a couple of bags of potato chips and some candy bars when he stops by the kitchen - should be enough to hold Chouji over.]

Which direction are you from the building?

[ Ah, of course. ] Thanks.

[ Annnnd give him a minute to work that one out. He could find his way back through simple visual recognition, but directions require figuring out which direction he's actually facing, which requires thinking.

Well, at least he sounds sure when he works it out. ] North.

[ Followed by lovely silence. He's working on brainpower plus surroundings-awareness. Attention can be hard to divide. ]

[Those are all good things to have in a time like this, so there won't be any further prodding from Shikamaru's end for awhile.

He takes the time to find a bag to stuff the junk food in before heading quickly for the stairs.]

[The regular business has not been quite enough to keep Katara's mind off of things she'd rather not think about, so she's been wandering about, actually sort-of thinking about them. Which means it's time for one of those Luceti coincidences.

She comes along from the forest behind him, not hiding her presence in the slightest and walking quite loudly.]

[ fffff give a guy a heart attack. It's almost as though people walk through the woods in Luceti or something.

[ Oh, wait. Not someone requiring a giant fist to the face, at least so far.

Awesome. He'll just be sheepish, stand and turn to greet her in that order. ]

Yeah. [ Scratching the back of his head. ] Sorry if I startled you.

I could say the same thing. [Juuuuuuust a touch wary because she doesn't see any visible mallynap effect yet, but he's acting like himself so - okay.]

[ Never fear, for Chouji has twice the luck of Shikamaru in these kinds of situations. Smiling. It's tired, but who lets that stop them anyway? ]

Nothing bad; I'm pretty used to this kind of thing. [ He could list off times he's had it worse, courtesy of ninja life. Heck, this'll probably bother Shikamaru more than it does him. ]

Will you let me take a look? I have healing abilities.
